Michael Paul Waller

January 27, 1953 — October 4, 2025

Bel Air

Michael P. Waller was born on January 27, 1953, in Rock Island, Illinois, and passed away on October 4, 2025, at the Senator Bob Hooper House at age 72 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Mike was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Joyce Francis Waller; and his daughters, Krista J. Waller, Leslie M. Waller, and Laura R. Waller. He was the son of the late Edythe J. Wolverton and Alan B. Waller; and brother of William A. Waller and Joyce E. Newberry.

A man of service and dedication, Mike retired from the Harford County Sheriff’s Department in 2002. Beyond his career, Mike found great purpose in his faith. As a deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church, he was deeply devoted to his church family and his spiritual life. His faith guided his actions, and he led by example in serving others with humility and compassion.

Mike will be remembered for his integrity, and easygoing nature. He carried himself with quiet strength and a good sense of humor, always ready with a quick, witty remark that could bring a smile even in the toughest moments.

In his younger years, Mike was an avid bicyclist, runner, and basketball player. He proudly completed the Baltimore Marathon, and also shared his love of sports with others through coaching.

His life was a reflection of his favorite scripture, which he often shared and lived by:

1 Corinthians 13:4–7 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

A visitation will be held on Friday October 24 from 9:30 - 11 AM with a celebration of life to follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church 2106 Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21015

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Alzheimer's Association or the Oak Grove Baptist Church Memorials Fund, 2106 Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21015 in honor of Mike Waller.
