Obituary

Michael Daniel Lynch, 48, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Born in Horsham, Pennsylvania, Michael was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose compassion and vibrant spirit touched countless lives.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Anna Berglowe-Lynch; his cherished children, Daniel Berglowe-Lynch and Magnolia Berglowe-Lynch, who were truly the center of his world; his cat, Spirit; his mother, Janet Lynch; his sister, Heather Vargo; his brother-in-law, Stephen Vargo, and his nephews, Saxon Vargo and Rowan Vargo. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Lynch.

Michael dedicated his life to helping others and was deeply passionate about serving his community. A proud social worker, he especially loved working with immigrants and advocating for those in need. His commitment to service extended internationally when he served in the Peace Corps in Guatemala, where he embraced the culture and became bilingual. Politically active and deeply compassionate, Michael believed strongly in justice, kindness, and human connection.

Outside of his professional life, Michael was known for his warm personality, quick wit, and many passions. He was a devoted fan of the Grateful Dead and found great joy in music, meaningful conversation, and spending time with those he loved. A sci-fi fan, he was an avid lover of both Star Wars and Star Trek, which is highly controversial in certain circles. He especially enjoyed gaming with family and friends, with the board game Catan holding a special place in his heart. An English major by education, Michael appreciated literature, ideas, and storytelling throughout his life.

Michael’s memory will live on through the many lives he influenced with his generosity, humor, intelligence, and unwavering love for his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a Go-Fund me account to help cover familial expenses and his children’s future, for those that wish to contribute. https://gofund.me/433a8d783
