Mary Helen Walls, affectionately known as “Suze,” age 82, of Aberdeen, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
Born in Maryland, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas Neil Callahan and Emma Grace (Mohr) Callahan. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Bassadore Walls; her son, Timothy Walls; her brothers, Thomas Callahan and Robert Callahan; and her sister, Ann Marble.
Mary is survived by her children, Mary Rapp, Mark Walls, and Theresa Walls and her husband Chris. She was a devoted grandmother to Brian Rapp, Matthew Rapp, Sean McArthur, Daniel Walls, Joey Walls, Travis Walls, and Alicia Pembroke. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Brooklyn McArthur, Brennan McArthur, Camdyn Walls, Avery Walls, Arrianna Walls, Adrianna Walls, Cece Rapp, and Cameron Rapp.
Mary is also survived by her loving siblings: Grace Price, with whom she shared a special bond; Kathleen Kellner; Daniel Callahan; and Patrick Callahan.
A woman of great warmth, boundless energy, and unforgettable humor, “Suze” had an incredible gift for making people laugh. Her quick wit and playful spirit brought joy and laughter to every room she entered. Whether it was a clever comeback, a funny story, or a spontaneous moment of silliness, Mary had a way of lifting spirits and leaving smiles behind. Her humor was one of her greatest gifts, and it will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary co-owned and operated the Aberdeen Hair Studio with her sister Grace for an incredible 55 years. Afterward, she continued spreading joy in her role as a hostess at Cracker Barrel in Riverside.
She had a zest for life and a wide range of interests. Mary was an avid reader and bird watcher, found joy in fishing, flower gardening, and painting, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, cruising, and vacationing with family and friends, and even ran a small catering business for a period. Her deep faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Mary’s legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will be forever remembered by all who knew her.
