Mary Sturm Moylan, age 84, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026. Born in Newport News, VA, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late John Girard Sturm and Adele Catherine (Cockey) Sturm. She graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy, Washington D.C., in 1959.
Mary was the devoted wife of Philip John Moylan, with whom she shared a loving marriage of 64 years, celebrating their anniversary in September 2025. They lived in New Jersey and Ohio, but always with a home centered on faith, family, and generosity.
She was a proud and loving mother to Catherine (John) Suttora, Philip (Jill) Moylan, Jr. , Anne (Gerard) Tall, and Carol (Angelo) Pomales. Her ten grandchildren were truly the loves of her life and brought her endless joy and pride.
Mary is also survived by her sister, Eva Ward, and her brother, John Sturm. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Cathie Thibault.
Mary retired in 2004 after a dedicated career with Bellcore, where she worked as a Computer Technical Support professional. A lifelong learner and strong advocate for education, she received an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey, and encouraged not only her own children but also extended family members to pursue higher education so they could confidently stand on their own.
A faithful member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Mary was deeply involved in Bible study and the Prayer Shawl Ministry, finding great purpose in her faith and service to others.
Mary had many creative passions and enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, embroidery, crocheting, and gardening. She loved to cook and was known for experimenting with new recipes from her cookbooks, especially when hosting family gatherings and holidays. A true people person, Mary found joy in staying connected— her final projects were preparing to share family pictures, birthday and holiday cards.
While living in New Jersey, Mary loved playing bridge and formed a close circle of friends who became lifelong companions in travel and in life.
