Mary Moulsdale

On Saturday, August 9, 2025, Mary Stephanie (Danek) Moulsdale, loving wife of Bob Moulsdale, passed away at the age of 81.

Mary was born on November 20, 1943, in Abingdon, MD to Richard Danek, Sr. and Stephanie (Vaculik) Danek, both of whom immigrated to the United States from Zlin, Czechoslovakia in 1939, prior to the German invasion. She married her neighbor and sweetheart Robert “Bob” Lee Moulsdale on July 25, 1964.

After graduating from Edgewood High School, Mary enjoyed a career in banking as a teller for Equitable Bank and Trust Company, first in Aberdeen and then in Joppatowne. She then followed her passion for animals to the Animal Hospital of Harford County in Bel Air, MD, where she worked for Dr. Carvel Tiekert. Mary also served as the Secretary of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association.

When she wasn’t working, Mary devoted most of her time to serving in volunteer roles at the St. Frances de Sales Roman Catholic Church in Abingdon, where she was a lifelong parishioner, played the organ during Mass and other ceremonies and celebrations, and enjoyed participating in the Handbell Choir. Along with Bob, Mary also adopted and cared for a number of disabled cats and dogs that would not have otherwise found a home.

Most of all, Mary will be remembered for her warmth, kindness and sincerity, her infectious laughter and her love of storytelling. Mary was never at a loss for words!

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Richard; her mother, Stephanie; her brother, Richard Danek, Jr.; her sister, Julie Farr; her nephews Chris Danek and Jay Hansbrough; and her brothers-in-law, Jim Farr and Norman K. “Skip” Moulsdale.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bob; brother, Joe Danek, his wife, Diane Danek, and their surviving children Sean Danek and Scott Danek; niece LaDonna Oladell; sister-in-law, Donarae Moulsdale; nephew Gary Moulsdale, his wife Shelly and their children Shayne, Bailey and Zack; nephew Keith Moulsdale, his wife Katherine Bain and their children Megan and Ella; and nephew Chris Moulsdale, his wife Caroline and their children Tristan and Isabelle.

A private service for family and close friends will be held at a future date.
