Mary Frances Buchwald (McKeldin)
February 13, 1942 - September 25, 2025
Mary Frances Buchwald, a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully following a long and courageous journey with dementia. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, and long-time resident of North East, Mary was known for her gentle spirit, unwavering loyalty, and deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
Mary spent the majority of her career as a legal secretary, faithfully serving the same law office for many years before retiring at age 67. Her dedication, professionalism, and quiet strength were admired by all who knew her.
As a lifelong lover of books, Mary found joy volunteering at the library. She loved spending time in her garden, surrounded by the vibrant colors and scents of blooming flowers.
The beach and being on the water were her sanctuaries, places where she felt most at peace. She nurtured her creativity through sewing, needlepoint, cooking, and baking-creating not just crafts and meals, but memories that live on in every stitch and bite.
Though tender and shy by nature, Mary was rarely one to miss a family gathering or neighborhood cookout. Her presence was steady, warm, and comforting-always the one who made you feel truly at home.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, her great aunt, and her brother. She is survived by her sister, Joan Drews (Ken), her three children, Thomas Spies (Deana), Julia Morse (Mike), and Janice Faulls (Drew); her grandchildren, Kyle Hawkins (Amy) and Kori Gibson (Robert), and her great-grandson, Jack Wyatt Hawkins.
Mary's legacy lives on in every flower planted, every story shared, and every life she touched with her grace.
