MARTHA SUSAN MARTIN, age 92, of Bel Air, died in Mariner of Forest Hill on October 27, 2002. Born in Terra Alta, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Dority and Louisa Browning Whetsell, and the wife of the late Wade Hampton Martin. She retired in 1972 after 20 years of service as a registered nurse with the Baltimore County Public Schools. She was on the Board of Lady Managers at the Presbyterian Home of Maryland in Towson and on the founding committee for Meals on Wheels in Harford County. She was a 1934 graduate of Sibley Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. She loved china painting, quilting and bridge.

Mrs. Martin is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Tyler and her husband, Thomas of Bel Air; three grandchildren, Christopher Wade Martin Tyler and his wife, Dawn, of Bel Air; Cynthia Umbarger and her husband, Worley, of Churchville; T. Jeffrey Tyler and his wife, Diana, of Churchville; two great-grandchildren, Brooke and Emily Tyler, both of Churchville. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Fred Whetsell and Elwood Whetsell.

Pallbearers will be: Christopher Wade Martin Tyler, T. Jeffrey Tyler, Worley Umbarger, Richard Gervais, Bill Elkin, and James Rapp. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Van Evera and Mitch Thomas.
