Marlene S. Ferrara, 78, of Forest Hill, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Marlene was the beloved daughter of the late Theophilus and Mary T. (Bugieda) Olkowski. She married the love of her life after dating Peter Ferrara since the age of fourteen, in 1966. They shared a beautiful life together until his passing 32 years ago.
Marlene dedicated her career to the medical field, retiring as an office manager from Penn Medicine. Her work was marked by compassion, care, and professionalism. A devout Catholic, Marlene was a longtime member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Hickory, MD, where she also volunteered generously, enriching the lives of those around her. She was an active participant in Walking with Purpose, the church’s women’s prayer group that brought her deep joy and spiritual connection.
Her heart belonged to her family. Marlene is survived by her loving sons, Kenneth Ferrara and his wife Angie and grandchildren Peter, Connor and Alex, and Mark Ferrara and his sons Ethan and Jackson.
Those who knew Marlene recognized the blessing of her presence in their lives. Her grace, kindness, and boundless generosity left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She gave of herself fully and freely, never hesitating to help others, even when it meant giving all she had.
