Maria G. Bowie, 85, of Edgewood, Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, at GBMC Healthcare in Towson, Maryland. Born in Texas, she was the beloved daughter of the late Miguel and Maria (Albarado) Gonzalez, and the devoted wife of the late Donald Robert Bowie III.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Maria served as a nurse in the burn unit at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center, where she met her husband, Donald. Together, they lived in St. Louis and Denver before making their home in Edgewood, Maryland. Maria was an active and cherished member of St. Stephen Catholic Church.

Maria found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid birdwatcher, had a passion for butterflies, and loved gardening. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to her hometown in Texas. A talented cook, she delighted in sharing her love for Mexican cuisine with her family and friends. Maria had a special affection for mariachi music, and her vibrant personality was magnetic, drawing people to her warmth and kindness. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend, known for taking exceptional care of her family.

In her later years, Maria enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino, savoring the excitement. She was also a lifelong fan of singer Tom Jones.

Maria is survived by her loving children: Diana Lynn Bowie Gott-Thomas, Lisa Marie Bowie, and Donald Robert (Sonia) Bowie IV; her cherished grandchildren: Daniella Bowie, Alaina Bowie, Jaime C.
