Margaret E. Chavis, age 81, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph Borkoski, Sr. and Margaret Christina (Petersen) Borkoski.

Margaret shared 47 years of marriage with her devoted husband, William Archie Chavis. She retired in 1989 from Southern States, where she worked for many years as a data entry supervisor.

A woman of faith, Margaret was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and gardening. Above all, Margaret cherished her family and was lovingly described as the most wonderful wife and mother in the world. Her love and devotion to those closest to her will be deeply missed.

Margaret is survived by her husband, William Archie Chavis; daughter, Jessica Chavis; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; stepson, Michael Joseph Chavis, stepdaughters, Kathleen Marie Chavis, and Mary Regina Matarozza, and her aunt, Catherine.

In addition to her parents, John Joseph Borkoski, Sr. and Margaret Christina (Petersen) Borkoski, Margaret was preceded in death by her four brothers.
