Madeline Myrtle Blackburn, age 95, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026.
Born in Sparta, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Roy Thomas Rose and Cleo Maggie (Church) Rose. She was the beloved wife of the late Hurley Harves Blackburn.
In addition to her husband and parents, Madeline was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Davis; her sisters, Maxine Rose and Imogene Mahan; and her brother, Allen Rose.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Dale) Ware; her grandchildren, Sandra (Gregory) Uehlinger, Jeffrey (Laura) Hahn, Larry (Jennifer) Wolfe, Amanda (Jeff) Mccasson, and Nick Davis; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by her siblings, Doris Jennings, John Rose, Linda Pruitt, and Roger Rose.
A homemaker at heart, Madeline loved caring for her family and preparing homemade meals using fresh vegetables from her garden. She enjoyed canning, arranging fresh flowers, reading, and decorating her home - especially during the Christmas holiday. She was faithful to her church and enjoyed delivering meals to those in need. For many years, she worked as a cook in the cafeteria at Churchville Elementary School.
