Lew Allen Carter, 72, moved on to heaven in the early morning hours of May 7,2026.
Born on October 25, 1953, to Edward Carter, Jr. and Donna Crabb, Lew grew up on Red Maple Dr. in Abingdon with his sister Sandra Arnold and was a proud member of the 1972 Edgewood High School graduating class. Lew’s father, Edward, passed away when he was only six years old. Lew was a devoted son to his mother, and he loved his sister unconditionally. The community in and surrounding his home on Red Maple Drive played a large part in shaping Lew into the man he was. Whether it was Coach Wiest picking him up for football practice, or the Smallwood Brothers who he worked for throughout high school, these fine men made a lasting impression on Lew that he would carry with him throughout his life. Lew found a strong father figure in the man that lived next door to him, Harold Moore. What started as playing around with Harold’s sons on Red Maple Drive, ended in a 53-year marriage to Harold’s youngest daughter, Faye.
Lew loved Faye. They married in 1973 and began their lives together. Like most newlyweds they worked hard to buy their first home in Joppatowne and started their family, ultimately relocating to the Fallston area. He was a devoted father to his children Brian Carter and wife Erin, Adam Carter and wife Jennie, and Crissy Pollitt and husband Matt. He was a cherished grandfather to his grandchildren Kaylea Carter and husband Richard Thomas, Noah Pollitt, Caleb Pollitt, Liam Carter, Levi Pollitt, and Hannah Pollitt; and was a cherished great-grandfather to Hudson Thomas.
His love for his family was matched only by his love for the Lord. He accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age and spent the rest of his life trying to love people the way Jesus did. He served his local church in many ways. He was a member of the choir, he would plow the parking lot when it would snow, he would mow the church lawn, he served as a trustee, and most recently faithfully served as a deacon at North Harford Baptist Church.
Over the last ten years, Lew persevered through many physical hardships and while battling those trials, his love for his family and his faith in the Lord never wavered.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” -2 Timothy 4:7
