Leona Redemann Krebs

Leona R. Krebs of Avondell in Bel Air, formerly of Fallston, wife of the late Grason Krebs, passed peacefully on September 12, 2026 under care of Gilchrist Hospice at the age of 96. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Leona and Charles Redemann. She attended Gardenville Elementary School, Hamilton Junior High, Eastern High School and Towson State Teacher’s College (now Towson University) where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She taught elementary school for many years, first in Baltimore City at School #18 Franklin D. Roosevelt School on Druid Park Drive and, after moving to Fallston with her husband Grason, at Youth’s Benefit Elementary School, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church on Moravia Avenue in Baltimore for most of her life, where she met her husband Gray while in a youth group play. She taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies’ Aid Society for many years. Leona was an athlete, playing field hockey, basketball, volleyball, and soccer in her younger years and swimming even into her older years when at Avondell, and was a Ravens, Terps, and Orioles fan. Leona was known for her warm smile, positive approach to life, remembering birthdays with cards to everyone, and baking her signature coconut and red velvet cakes. Her love for her family, church and friends was evident in how she lived each day of her life.

She is survived by her daughters and their families: Jean and Phil Eisenhaur; Sue and John Gallagher; “Adopted” Daughter Fran Gallagher-Northup (David); Grandchildren: Brian Gallagher (Emily), Andy Eisenhaur, Erin Gallagher (Sean), Christine Uslin-McLellan (Stephen), Kim Uslin. Leona was predeceased by her parents Charles and Leona Redemann; husband Gray, the love of her life; and her grandson Scott Uslin.

A special thank you to the friends and staff at Avondell who made her older years so rewarding and special.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday September 26, 2026 at 2 pm at Brightview Avondell 128 W. Ring Factory Road, Bel Air, MD 21014.
