Lawrence Weaver Jr.

Lawrence Weaver Jr., age 84 of Churchville, MD, passed away on January 1, 2014 at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, MD. Born in Centre Hall, PA, he was the oldest of eight children born to Lawrence Sylvester Weaver Sr. and Helen Irene Hutzley Weaver. He grew up on a farm in Centre County and attended school in a two-room schoolhouse. He attended Potter High School and received a full scholarship to attend Penn State from 1948-1952 where he received a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. He was employed at Glenn L. Martin from 1952-1955 as an Aerospace Engineer until he was drafted into the Army. After his honorable discharge, he worked at APG as a civilian at MTD (Materiel Testing Directorate-now ATC) until his retirement in 1987 as Chief of the Wheeled Vehicle Branch. A member of Deer Creek Harmony Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, he also belonged to various service groups over the years which included Churchville Lions Club where he was a Charter Member, the Kiwanis, and Troop 376 in the early 1960's where he was Assistant BSA Scoutmaster. An avid woodworker, his projects are spread throughout the County in people's homes and businesses.

Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eva Marie Dehne Weaver; children, David Weaver of Street, Debora Haire and husband, Richard, of Havre de Grace, and Mary Weaver of Whiteford; siblings, Bob Weaver of Port Matilda, PA, Linda Homan of Centre Hall, PA, Carol Dillon of Pennsylvania Furnace, PA and Rosalie Fetterolf of Aaronsburg, PA; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Anthony C. Weaver and twin daughters who died at birth; and siblings, Violet Brooks of Centre Hall, PA, Ken Weaver of Bellefonte, PA, and David Weaver of Huntington, PA.
