Lawrence “Larry” Burton, age 88, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Larry was the beloved son of the late Lawrence Andrew Burton and Dorothy Willamina (Kohler) Burton. A proud veteran, Larry served his country honorably.
Larry was united in marriage to Iris A. (Friese) Burton for 68 years, a loving partnership that remained the cornerstone of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald Burton; and his sister, Catherine Martel.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Iris A. Burton; his loving children, Lawrence Burton and his wife Pamela, Christine Langrehr, and Jean Dlugokenski and her husband Joseph; and his cherished grandchildren, Amber Mullen and her husband Jason, Megan Langrehr, Katherine Langrehr, Michael Dlugokenski, and Samantha Dlugokenski. He is also survived by his adored great-grandchildren, Kashton Mullen and Beckett Mullen.
Larry dedicated 41 years of service to C&P, now Verizon, before retiring. In his retirement, he greatly enjoyed golfing, traveling, and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He was a longtime, faithful member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Hickory, where his faith remained an important part of his life.
Larry will be remembered as a man deeply loved by his family, who truly cherished every moment spent with them.
