Laurie Ann Akers, age 64, of Middle River, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Laurie was the beloved daughter of the late William Jackson and the late Arlene (Rebbert) Jackson.

Laurie shared a loving marriage with her husband, Jeffrey "Rock" Akers, who remained by her side throughout their years together.

Laurie had a vibrant spirit and found joy in the simple beauties of life. She was an avid fan of Neil Diamond and Tina Turner and loved listening to their music. She especially loved spending time outdoors, tending to gardens, admiring flowers, and enjoying the beauty of nature. Day lilies and calla lilies were among her favorite blooms, and nothing made her happier than picking a fresh tomato from the garden.

Laurie loved the water in every form but held a special place in her heart for the beach. She enjoyed taking rides in the car, especially when they included scenic waterfront views. She also loved to dance and embraced every opportunity to celebrate life with family and friends.

A gifted self-taught artist, Laurie expressed her creativity through painting beautiful crafts that she lovingly gave as gifts to those she cared about. She also painted stunning murals that adorned her own home as well as the homes of family members. One of her favorite pastimes was creating handcrafted birdhouses alongside Rock, a hobby they enjoyed together and one that reflected their shared love of creativity and nature.

In addition to her beloved husband, Rock, Laurie is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Drumgoole, Lisa Krieg and her husband, Jim, Jennifer O'Neill and her husband, Timothy, and Sharon Rapposelli and her husband, Jim; her brothers-in-law, Michael Akers, Richard Akers and his wife, Wanda, and Gregory Akers and his wife, Kim; 9 nephews and 2 nieces, her beloved dogs Peaches and Licky-Licky, along with many loving extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Laurie was preceded in death by her sister, Arlene Harper.
