Lanta Rebecca Shirley

Lanta Rebecca Shirley (Edmonson) died peacefully at home March 2, 2016. She was 90. Born in Virginia on January 28th, 1926 to Alma Harr and Carl Edmonson, she grew up in Dublin, Maryland. A lifetime Harford County Resident, she met her husband, Kenneth Shirley and was happily married for over 62 years until his death on May 30th, 2007. She worked at The Hub in Bel Air and Joseph's Department Store in Havre de Grace.

She loved to travel and spend time with her family and loved her animals. She is survived by her 5 children; Sons, Roger Shirley and wife Louise from Churchville, MD; Kenneth Shirley (Kenny) and girlfriend Peggy Belcher of Aberdeen, MD; Daughters Beverly Shephard (Clark) and Husband Harry Shephard of Berlin, MD; Rolanda Morningstar and Fiancé Johnny Kriet of Taneytown, MD; and Dedra Fisher of Edgewood, MD. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She lived with her grandson, Brandon Clark and partner, Raymond Miller in Abingdon, MD.

Per her wishes, her cremated remains will be eternally rested at Bel Air Memorial Gardens with her husband, a private service will be held at a later date.
