Kenneth Dale Cox

Kenneth Dale Cox, 68, of Belcamp, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, after a courageous three- and half-year battle with melanoma. Born on July 23, 1956, in Havre de Grace, MD, Kenny was the beloved son of the late Clarence Cox, Sr., and Elfreda L. (Moses) Cox. 

Kenny cherished spending time with his family, playing golf, and enjoying his retirement home in North Carolina. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; step-son, Jack Mischke, Jr. (wife Taryn); granddaughters, Emma (fiancé Brandon) and Regan Ryan; son-in-law, John Ryan; brothers, Norman Cox (wife Marcia) and Darrel Cox (wife Mary); sisters, Judith Evans (husband Dennis) and Marion Halsey; mother-in-law, Wanda Horne; brothers-in-law, Steve Horne (wife Vickie) and John Horne (wife Pam); and sister-in-law and longtime best friend, Donna Burdette. Kenny is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as special friends, Kevin Ferrell, Boe Kowalewski, Howard McComas III, and Howard Walter, with whom he shared many good times and golf trips over the years.

 Kenny proudly served his country in the US Marines from 1975 to 1980 before joining the Aberdeen Police Department in 1980. He retired in 2011 as a Captain after a distinguished 31-year career. Following his retirement, Kenny worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground for several government contractors until shortly before his passing. He was highly respected by the Police Community, US Army personnel, co-workers, and those in the local community. 

In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Dawn Kawehilani Ryan; brothers, Clarence Cox, Jr., David Cox, and Richard Cox; and sisters, Ellen L. Dugan, and Donna Lutter. 

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from noon-2:00 p.m. with a Sharing of Memories service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the family-owned McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon, Maryland.
