Obituary

Kathy Bridges, age 78, of Pylesville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Frederick Victor Sehrt and Helene Lois (Bast) Sehrt.

Kathy was the beloved wife of Dale Bridges, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage. She was a loving mother to Anise Richey, and her wife, Sarah Forrest.

In addition to her husband and daughter, Kathy is survived by her brother in law, Tony Sims. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ginny Sims. Kathy grew up in New Orleans, LA and McComb, MS and moved to the Houston, TX area as a teen. She graduated from Lutheran High School in Houston and settled in the area. In January 2000 she and Dale moved to Pylesville, MD where she loved living away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, enjoying watching the deer emerge from the woods each evening at dusk.

One of Kathy's greatest passions was teaching young children. This passion was reflected in her work at Montessori schools in the Houston, Texas area, where she dedicated herself to nurturing and educating young minds. She enjoyed reading and cherished the time she spent with her church women's group.

Kathy was a member of Dublin United Methodist Church. She had a deep love of music, especially playing the piano. In her early 20s, she managed several local bands in the Houston area, combining her love of music with her enthusiasm for supporting musicians. She also enjoyed singing with her church choir.

Kathy had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly dogs. She always had a dog by her side, and her beloved pets brought her great joy and companionship throughout her life.
