Kathryn (Katie/Kat) Zalewski-Bednarek

Kathryn Elizabeth Zalewski-Bednarek, age 44, of Northeast, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Kathryn was the beloved daughter of Marjorie Ann (Shawver) Zalewski and the late Stanley Zalewski. She was the devoted mother of Samuel Ramey and cherished by her sisters Elizabeth (Mark) Harrah and Emily (Andrew) Schram, and Jon Ramey.

Kathryn was a 1999 graduate of C. Milton Wright High School and went on to earn her associate degree from Harford Community College. She was currently employed by the Cecil County Health Department as the Coordinator of Special Programs and Health Services. Previous employment included Sephora, Kohls, and Restoration Hardware as Warehouse Operation Supervisor.

A woman of deep faith, Kathryn was a member of Mountain Christian Church. She was known for her outgoing personality, passion for photography, and gift of writing. She had a lifelong love of music and was an accomplished cello player in high school, achieving All State Orchestra, 1st Chair in All County Orchestra, and performing with the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra.

Kathryn also had a profound appreciation for the Civil War history of Gettysburg. She spent much of her time on the battlefield and was active in the Gettysburg Park Program, studying to become an official park guide.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 6 at Mountain Christian Church – Joppa Campus in the Cook Auditorium, with visitation at 2:00 PM and the service beginning at 3:00 PM.
