Kathryn A. Adams, age 89, of Parkville, Maryland, passed away on July 11, 2024, at Oak Crest Senior Living in Parkville, Maryland. Born in Braddock, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William John and Agnes (Jamieson) Adams.
Kathryn had a zest for life and a deep love for travel, especially to Ireland, where her mother was born. She was a gifted musician, delighting many with her organ playing, and she dedicated many years as a volunteer at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Her commitment to serving her community included participating as an Auxiliary member of the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the League of Women Voters. She loved to garden, and, for many years, she enjoyed volunteering as a docent for Ladew Topiary Gardens. Kathryn loved to entertain and her many friends enjoyed good food and laughter in her home.
Kathryn's professional career was marked by excellence and leadership. She began in insurance sales and worked her way up to management at Liberty Mutual Insurance, earning numerous awards for her expertise and professionalism. Always a pioneer, she founded the Foxy Investors investment club in Harford County, fostering financial acumen and camaraderie among her friends.
She is survived by her sister, Marjorie M. (Rev. Elmer) Bigham; her dear friend, Janis Matastasio; her nieces, Kerrie Bigham and Liana Bigham (Jerod) Harbert; and her nephews, Eric Bigham, George O. (Debbie) Adams, Jack (Janet) Adams, Tom (Linda) Adams, and Donald (Daria) Adams. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marion E. Adams, her brother, George O. Adams, Sr. and sister-in-law, Norma S. Adams.
Kathryn's life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family and friends, community service, and love of life.
