Joseph J. Schuman, age 76, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on July 6, 2023 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Koscielski) Schuman and husband of Janice (Boyce) Schuman. Joseph was a 1970 graduate of University of Baltimore with a B.S. degree in business management. He was a Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of SP5 and earning the National defense service medal and the Army commendation medal. He was a member of New Covenant Church, Bel Air. Joseph retired from Omni Land Settlement (Hunt Valley) where he worked as a settlement officer.  He previously worked for Hanover Foods as an account executive and manager and Becton Wholesale Foods and Colgate/Palmolive. He loved playing golf, throwing the football with his grandchildren and spending time together with his family.      

In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Dave) A. Holste, Kristin (Michael) M. Rhall, Erin (Spencer) N. Scherer; grandchildren, David (Khirsten) C. Holste, Joshua (Giana) A. Holste, Matthew J. Holste, Alec J. (Alissa) Porter, River M. Boyce, Griffin M. Porter, Kavin J. Carter, Ethan, Caleb, Clara N. & Jasper A. Scherer; brother, James, Steven & Brian Schuman; sister-in-law, Karen (Sam) Graham; special nephew, Dominic Hood and a host of nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by sister, Bonita Bond, infant son (fraternal twin to Jennifer) Joseph J. Schuman, Jr. And parents-in-law, Arthur A. & Martha M. Boyce.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11AM at New Covenant Church, 2530 Conowingo Road, Bel Air, MD 21015.
