Jose Luis Santiago, age 83, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on January 24, 2024, at Sterling Care in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Leon Santiago, and Ramon and Raimunda Altu’. Jose attended various Catholic Churches and devoted himself to his faith.

A skilled steel fabricator by profession, Jose leaves behind a legacy marked by dedication and hard work. He took pride in his craftsmanship and made a meaningful impact in his chosen field.

Outside of work, Jose found joy in simple pleasures. He had a passion for fishing and crabbing, finding solace by the water. A devoted Mets fan, he enjoyed watching baseball games and cheering for his favorite team. He will be especially missed for his unconditional love of his large extended family.

Jose is survived by his loving siblings, Benjamin Altu', Jose Altu', Aida Gordon, Abigail Altu', Nora Altu', Frances Ledesma, Victor Santiago and Viviana Altu'; children, Jose Ralph (Carmen) Guzman, Angela (Alan) Watson and Jose David (Cledia) Santiago; grandchildren, Jeannette (Tony) Neerpat, Belinda (Joel) Cordileone, Jacqueline (Mom Nancy) Guzman, Christina (Adrian) Rouzer, Amanda (Chris) Neary, Ruben Franscique, Derek Lovell Jr., Nicole Lorenzo, Kimberly Lorenzo, Dominic Santiago, Sonia Santiago (Mario), Juliet Santiago (Colin), Jessica (Mark) Rodriguez Cruz, Adam (Karla) Elmoor, Zainab (Devin) Peabody, Cameron Watson and Andrew Lee; and great-grandchildren, Anissa Neerpat, Anthony Neerpat, Andrew Neerpat, Mikayla Cordileone, Alana Cordileone, Cristiano Cordileone, Kylee Cordileone, Jose Guzman, Jazmine Guzman, Jeremiah Guzman, J.R. Westbrook, Genevieve Rouzer, Viviane Rouzer, Gavin Neary, Adrienne Neary, Marlene Franscique, Derek Brown, Ruben Franscique Jr., Kyrie Franscique, Hannah Lovell, Leila Lovell, Angelina Cruz, Mark Cruz Jr., Alex Cruz, and Mila Santa Elmoor.

In addition to his parents, Jose was preceded in death by his siblings, Monchito Altu', Angelo Altu' and Daniel Altu’; children Robert Guzman, Jorge Guzman, and Ruben Lorenzo; and grandchild, Daniel Rodriguez, IV.
