John Patrick Weiland

John Patrick Weiland, 80, of Fallston, Maryland, passed away on July 23, 2026, following a recent illness.

 Born in England, John was the son of the late Frank and Mary Weiland. As a baby, he moved with his parents to The United States and was raised in Timonium, Maryland along with his four younger brothers. He graduated from Dulaney High School in 1964.

John was the devoted husband of Nina Weiland, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of love, partnership, laughter, and adventure. The couple met while working together at Western Electric and married in 1967. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, friendship, and countless unforgettable memories. 

A proud veteran, John began serving in the National Guard in 1969. In 1977, John and Nina moved to Fallston, Maryland, where they built their home and raised their three children, Jeffrey, Jennifer and Alison. Over the years, John and Nina enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and the Caribbean and took great joy in hosting family and friends to their countless cookouts and pool parties. 

John enjoyed a long career with Verizon before retiring. He was also an avid sports fan who faithfully followed the Baltimore Colts, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Baltimore Orioles. He was a season ticket holder for both the Colts and Ravens for many years and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. His interests also included fine cigars, Civil War and World War II history and a love of classic cars - passions he enjoyed throughout his life. John was a gifted handyman who could fix nearly anything, from automobiles and electronics to carpentry projects. Among his many accomplishments, John rebuilt the engine of his beloved 1963 Corvette and later turned his talents toward building custom computers. 

Above all, John treasured his family. Whether cheering from the sidelines at his grandchildren’s soccer games, or simply enjoying time together, nothing made “Pop Pop”, prouder or happier. John will be remembered most for his wonderfully dry sense of humor, quick wit, as well as his sharp mind, generous spirit, and ever-pleasant character. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and strength to the lives of so many. 

John leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished by all who knew him. His family and friends will miss him dearly and will carry his memory in their hearts always. 

John is survived by his beloved wife, Nina Weiland; his children, Jeffrey Weiland and his wife, Cheryl; Jennifer Mattucci and her husband, Davide; and Alison Polk and her husband, Jack; his grandchildren, Alessia Mattucci, Gianluca Mattucci, Caitlin Polk, Jackson Polk, and Isla Polk. He is also survived by his brothers, Carl Weiland, and his wife, Gloria; and Robert Weiland and his wife, Victoria; as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and countless dear friends. 

In addition to his parents, Frank and Mary Weiland, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Weiland, Jr., and Don Weiland and his wife, Joyce.
