John K. Schoolmeester

John Kreisel Schoolmeester, age 91, of Street, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025.

John was born in Washington, DC, and was the son of the late George H. Schoolmeester and Wilhemina (Kreisel) Schoolmeester.

He was the beloved husband of Joanne Stevens.

John was preceded in death by his brother, George Schoolmeester, and his sister, Mary Lou Waddell, and stepdaughter Susan Stevens.

He is survived by his daughters, Catherine (Dan) O’Connor, Alicen Schoolmeester, and Kasha (Kelly) Williamson; stepdaughter Linda Stevens and stepson Charles Stevens, Jr.; and his cherished grandchildren, Mattew Winnick, Michael Winnick, Zachary Harper, Madelyn Harper, Lindsey Laiks, Jacob Laiks, and step grandchildren Brittany Piper, Natalie Alvarodo, Joel Lyons, Sean Lyons, Emma Luck, Meghan Stevens, Roman Stevens, Hardt Piper, and Noah Lyons.

John was a graduate of Villanova University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Throughout his distinguished career, he was a member of several professional and service organizations, including IEEE, AFCEA, ADPA, the Navy League, and AOC. He achieved many professional honors, including being selected as AOC Business Development Manager in 1991.

John was 25 years sober through Alcoholics Anonymous, an accomplishment of which he was extremely proud. He devoted himself to helping countless individuals begin and maintain their sobriety, generously serving as a sponsor and mentor to many.

At home, John was known as a true handyman—able to fix just about anything—and took great pride in caring for his family and home.
