John Gerard Rasmussen, 78, of Aberdeen, Maryland, passed away among family on Thursday, September 18, 2025, while in the care of Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Donna Rasmussen (née Ensley); his children, Joseph Jackson, Kathleen Rasmussen, Amy Rasmussen; son-in-law Joseph Pozzolano, daughter-in-law Sharon Jackson; and his cherished grandchildren-- Kellen and Amelia.
Born in Baltimore City, John was the son of the late John Rasmussen and Estelle Rasmussen (née Broczkowska). He was also preceded in death by his beloved sister, Regina Rasmussen.
John was a devout Catholic who attended St. Matthew School and Loyola High School. He attended college at the University of Tennessee and later earned an associate’s degree from the Community College of Baltimore County.
As a teen, John was an Eagle Scout and a lifeguard. Besides shooting pool with friends and bowling on a duck pin league, John was a bowman and expert marksman. He enjoyed old westerns, science fiction, and college football.
As a young adult, he worked for Lever Brothers and Safeway before serving honorably in the Army National Guard and Air National Guard. After his service, he became a small business advisor and chief officer at R&D Command at Edgewood Proving Grounds. He retired from APG as a contracting specialist in the Small Business Office where he dedicated many years of service.
John was a proud veteran who was known for his strength of character and love of country. He will be remembered by family and friends for his quick wit, sense of humor, love of trivia, and practical jokes.
