John Winston Kramar

(1935-2026)

On January 19, age 90, in Lancaster, PA, formerly of Bel Air, MD. Beloved husband of 68 years to the late Evelyn Elizabeth Shaw Kramar. Devoted father of Susan Kramar Bowen (Bob) and John Shaw Kramar (Eric). Cherished grandfather of Liz Bowen (Will) and Robby Bowen (Ana). Dear son of the late John Knoflicèk Kramar and Diana Estelle Chase Kramar.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, John, and his parents moved to Edgewood, Maryland when he was fourteen. He attended Bel Air High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Evelyn. They were married in 1956. John, always a proud “Boilermaker”, graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 1957. John was a charter member of the Senior Executive Service in the U.S. Army - serving as Chief of the Ground Warfare Division at the Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity (AMSAA) at Aberdeen Proving Ground. In retirement, John devoted his engineering talents and much time to his family - helping to restore Evelyn’s ancestral family home and also constructing scene sets for his son’s opera productions at East Carolina University. He was an avid traveler throughout much of his life. John was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bel Air as well as a charter member and Past Master Councilor of Harford Chapter, Order of DeMolay.

The family will hold a private service and internment at a later date.
