Obituary

John Joseph Homiak, age 80, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, John was the beloved son of the late Walter Homiak and the late Florence Homiak, née Polinka.

John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he enjoyed a life filled with simple pleasures and hobbies that brought him happiness. John was a field service engineer in a niche field- he repaired and installed machinery that manufactured corrugated boxes all over the world and owned his own business, worked, and traveled until retiring at the age of 72.

He loved spending time on the water, whether fishing or boating, and found great enjoyment working on his computer and tinkering with projects. Always curious and resourceful, John enjoyed figuring out how things worked and was happiest when keeping his hands and mind busy.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Walter, and Florence Homiak; his beloved son, Albert Homiak; his brother, Walter "Homer" Homiak; and his sister, Sandra Witkowski.

He is survived by his son, John Homiak, Jr.; his daughters, Jennifer (Matthew) Woppman and Nicole (James) Barnes; his grandchildren, Cheyenne (Lyla) Woppman and Harper Barnes; his brother, Myron (Eleanor) Homiak; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Services and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jarrettsville V.F.W. Post 8672.
