JOHN HARRISON STAMPER, 91, of Bel Air died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on October 1, 2002. Born in Laurel Springs, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Edward D. and Dora Caudill Stamper. A resident of Harford County for 67 years, he owned and operated E. D. Stamper and Son Grocery Store, a small country store in Fountain Green, until 1957. In 1957, he became a farmer raising chickens and sold both poultry and eggs. He was member of Oak Grove Baptist Church
Mr. Stamper is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mamie Ruth Ross Stamper, a son, Edward R. Stamper of Grass Valley, California, a daughter, Dora L. Sydnor of Mechanicsville, Virginia, four grandchildren, Douglas M. Sydnor, of Warsaw, Virginia, Lisa K. Vissman, of Costa Masa, California, Eric C. Stamper of Bel Air, Maryland, Marc S. Stamper of Florence, Oregon, a step-grandson, Mark S. Graziano of Grass Valley, California, and two great grandchildren, Lauren E. Vissman of Costa Masa, California and Brianna R. Stamper of Bel Air, Maryland. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Mallie Weaver and Mae Taylor.
Services were held at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Bel Air, Maryland on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at 11 AM with Rev. Harold L. Hubble, Dr. David A. Hall and Rev. Kenneth E. Tipton officiating. Interment was in Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were: Jim Sydnor, Ed Stamper, Eric Stamper, Doug Sydnor, Charles Nichols and John Rakaczky.
Arrangements were under the direction of McComas Funeral Home, P.A., Abingdon.
