John A. Doran, Jr.

John Alfred Doran, Jr., 71, of Abingdon, Maryland passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 7, 2023. John, or Johnny, as he was known by family and friends, was born on June 10, 1951 to John Sr. and Ruth Doran (both deceased). 

A 1969 graduate of Edgewood Senior High School, John received his Bachelor’s degree from Washington College in Chestertown, MD and went on to the Maryland School of Dentistry, graduating in 1978. He opened and operated a dental practice in Joppa and retired in 2006.  When younger, John enjoyed playing golf, taking family vacations at Holden Beach, NC and traveling to Canada and Maine. In later years, he enjoyed tailgating and attending Ravens games with friends and family, participating in Bingo nights, and spending time with family. He also enjoyed helping others, such as providing rides to and from shopping and medical appointments.

John was predeceased by his parents, John Sr. and Ruth Doran, and a nephew, Daniel Doran.

He is survived by his siblings, Linda Stevenson and her husband Walt, Marlene Roase and her husband Dave, Nelson Doran and his wife Cheryl, and Alan Doran and his husband Nat; nieces and nephew, Erin Stevenson, Pamela Ungham, Kristin Zajdel, Jill Valentin and Kevin Rose; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
