Jewel Elaine Gardner, age 80, of Edgewood, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Born in Brevard, North Carolina, Jewel was the beloved daughter of the late Clarence L. Robertson and Helen Mae (Henson) Robertson. She carried the warmth and gentle beauty of the mountains with her throughout her life, she was married to the love of her life, George David Gardner, beginning in 1965, and together they built a family centered on love, compassion, and faith. Jewel loved her family deeply, especially her son and grandchildren, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Known for her beautiful, loving, and gentle heart, Jewel dedicated much of her life to caring for those around her. She worked as a beautician for many years, touching countless lives with both her talent and kindness. She had a special love for flowers and the gentle side of nature, finding joy and peace in God’s creation.

Jewel was a faithful member of Lord of Life Church in Edgewood and proudly served as a former President and Chaplain of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her caring spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to others will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Jewel was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Robertson.

She is survived by her son, David Gardner and his wife, Joyce; her grandchildren, Gareth Gardner, Ryan Gardner, and Katheryn Butschky; her great-grandchild, Gus Majalica; and her brothers, J.R. Robertson, and Roger Robertson.
