Gerald James (Jerry) Larner, Jr., age 88, of Ellicott City, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025.
Born in Maryland in February 1937, Gerald was the beloved son of the late Gerald James Larner, Sr. and the late Regina Harkins Larner. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Sue Zdenek and his brother-in-law, Jack Kelly.
Gerald is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Hyong Sun (Mira) Larner, whom he met while working in South Korea. Together they built a loving life full of adventure, family, and enduring partnership.
He is also survived by his loving children, Scott Larner and his wife Donna, and Regina Rodriguez and her husband Ricky. Gerald was a proud grandfather to Rachel Herring and her husband Chris, Juliana Rodriguez, Ricky Rodriguez, and Ziva Rodriguez. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Coraline Herring and Gemma Herring. Gerald leaves behind his sister, Patsy Kelly and many nieces and nephews.
Gerald had a deep passion for exploring the world. He traveled to over 60 countries and nearly every state in the U.S., often doing so on his motorcycle. He had an incredible ability to find and fix broken things, always eager to tinker and restore. Known for his kindness, honesty, and hardworking spirit, Gerald’s presence brought comfort and strength to those around him. He cherished his family deeply and never let a day go by without making sure they were cared for and supported.
Gerald will be remembered for his generous heart, his adventurous spirit, and the deep love he held for those closest to him. He will be dearly missed.
Following the burial, family and friends are invited to join us for a repast at the American Legion in Havre de Grace.
