JERRY JAMES LEFTWICH, age 61, of Joppa, died at the V.A. Medical Center, Baltimore, on October 6, 2002. Born in Aberdeen, he was the son of Mildred Ruth Montgomery Blank of Dundalk and the late James Clinton Leftwich, and the husband of the late Shirley May Leftwich. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years of service where he was a mail carrier. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He served his country in the military during peacetime.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Leftwich is survived by two daughters, Karen Barahona of Gainesville, Georgia; Kristina Leftwich of Joppa; four sisters, Shirley Swinski of Sparks; Lawana Towner of Columbia; Barbara Eaton of Ridgely, Maryland; Ann Roelecke of Reisterstown; and one granddaughter, Ashley Garcia of Joppa. In addition to his father and his wife, he was predeceased by one brother, Franklin Leftwich.
Services will be held in Trinity Lutheran Church, Joppa on Thursday, October 10, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Maurice A. Arsenault officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, (today), October 9, 2002 from 7-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 572, Bel Air, Maryland 21014.
Arrangements were under the direction of McComas Funeral Home, P.A. in Abingdon.
