Jan Rose Peacher, age 90, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in Bel Air. Born in a cabin in Pathfork, Kentucky, Jan moved to Baltimore with her family at the age of three, where she grew up and began a life centered on family, hard work, and lasting friendships.

Jan graduated from Eastern High School and later worked as a secretary at Baltimore Mutual Insurance Company, where she met her beloved husband, Bill. Together, they raised three children and built a life filled with love, cherished memories, and family traditions.

Jan and Bill enjoyed dressing up and going dancing with family and friends at the Green Spring Inn and Supper Club. She also loved ice skating while the boys played ice hockey on their pond. Eventually, the family purchased a 90-acre farm that became the heart of their family life. Jan worked tirelessly on the farm, raising horses, cattle, and chickens, and took great pride in the life they built there. Today, generations of the family continue to call the farm home, carrying on the legacy she helped create.

Jan was active in her community, serving as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and a 4-H leader. She was also the founder of the Darlington Apple Festival. She enjoyed antiquing, attending auctions, and gardening, which remained one of her greatest pleasures throughout her life.

With her entrepreneurial spirit and love of unique finds, Jan helped establish the Darlington Country Store. She later became the sole owner of the Bel Air Country Store, which is now Pamella and Rose Furnishings in Timonium. Jan also looked forward to her annual trips to Williamsburg, Virginia, where one of her favorite stops was the basket-making shop.

One of Jan’s most cherished traditions was attending family reunions in Kentucky on her family’s farm. She held a special place in her heart for her grandparents, Park and Bertha Taylor, whose love of the land inspired her lifelong passion for gardening, farming, preserving food, and self-sufficiency. These gatherings brought together generations of loved ones and reflected the deep roots, family bonds, and traditions that meant so much to her.

Jan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Daniel Peacher; her parents, Roger Curtis Taylor and Pauline (Brewer) Taylor; her son, William Peacher, Jr.; and her sister, Pat Stiglioni.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Knight; her son-in-law, Robert Knight; her son, Scott Peacher; her daughter-in-law, Kim Peacher; and her seven grandchildren, Michael Peacher, Jessica Peacher, Sarah Knight, Garrett Knight, Morgan Knight, Laura Peacher, and Daniel Peacher. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward for generations to come.

Jan will be remembered for her strong work ethic, keen business sense, love of gardening, and dedication to her community. She had a quick wit, a wonderful sense of humor, and a natural elegance and class that made her truly unforgettable. She also had a special eye for decorating and a talent for making things beautiful. She was known for her delicious crabcakes and for enjoying life with a margarita in hand. Whether spending time in her garden, sharing a meal with loved ones, or enjoying life’s simple pleasures, Jan brought warmth, grace, and a spirited personality to everything she did. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. The farm she helped build, the traditions she cherished, and the generations she nurtured are a lasting reflection of the life and love she leaves behind. Jan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
