James Frederick Towle Sr., age 75, of Joppa, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Born in Baltimore, MD, James was the beloved son of the late Samuel F. Towle and Ida Jean (Beauchamp) Towle.
Jim, affectionately known as "Stove Pipe" to his closest friends, was a self-employed carpenter who took immense pride in his craftsmanship, often referring to himself as a "one-man show." His work reflected his personality—meticulous, clean, and built to last. He was a man who believed that hard work and attention to detail spoke louder than words.
A deeply private man, Jim’s true personality shone when he entered his favorite local pub, where he enjoyed a cold beer with good company. Family was his world. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Though hardheaded at times, his family fondly referred to him as an "Iron Coated Marshmallow"—tough on the outside but soft and generous at heart.
He is survived by his beloved friend Becky Davis, and by the beloved mother of his children, Pamela. He is also survived by his children: his twin daughters Jessica Towle & Nichole Towle & his son James Towle Jr. He was a proud grandfather to Olivia, Brandon, Cooper, Caiden, and Jackson, and a doting great-grandfather to his beloved great-granddaughter Harlow.
James is also survived by his siblings: sister Cheryl Towle, brother Ron Towle, and sister Linda Towle.
James was an animal lover and shared a special bond with his cherished cat, Rosey, who brought him great comfort and companionship.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, an organization close to their hearts.
