James “Jim” Jewell, age 77, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Born in Baltimore City, Maryland, he was the son of the late Kenneth Clarence Jewell and the late Theresa Lena (Finster) Jewell, and the beloved husband of the late Nancy Lynne (Davis) Jewell.

Mr. Jewell proudly served his country in the Maryland Army National Guard. He dedicated much of his professional life to public service and finance. He retired in 2015 from Harford County Public Schools, where he served for 10 years as Assistant Superintendent of Budget Services. Prior to that, he was the Harford County Treasurer from 1981 to 2005. Throughout his career, he was active in many financial professional organizations.

James had a passion for automobiles and was a proud member of the Bel Air Corvette Club, Beachcomber Corvette Club, and First State Corvette Club. He was also a former and very active member of Mariners Bethel Global Methodist Church in Ocean View/Bethany Beach, Delaware. In his free time, he enjoyed attending car shows, spending time at the beach, traveling with his late wife, and most especially cherishing time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Jewell, and his sister-in-law, Darlene Jewell.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Kelly (Brian) Mangum and Laura (Chris) Parks; his cherished grandchildren, Brandon Mangum, Sarah Mangum, and Lucas Parks; his brother, Don Jewell; and sister-in-law, Barbara Jewell.
