James Robert Charvat

James Robert Charvat, Age 76, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Bel Air. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the beloved son of the late James L. Charvat and Doris (Smith) Charvat.

James is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy J. (Henning) Charvat; his loving sisters, Karen (Bob) Hicks, Kathy Charvat (Rick Clarke), and sisters-in-law Denise Lynch and Sharon Henning; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews; also, longtime friends Val and Bob Capallo.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Steve Henning.

James lived a full and vibrant life. He was an avid bicyclist, enjoyed skiing, and loved crafting his own brews. He also shared his passion for music as DJ “Big Jim” for Harford Community College radio, where he was well known and admired.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James’s memory to the Harford County Humane Society.
