Jack MacDougall

August 15, 1943 — August 12, 2025

John “Jack” W. MacDougall, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 12, 2025, 3 days short of his 82nd birthday.

Jack was born on August 15, 1943 in Newark, New Jersey. He was the son of John W. MacDougall II, and Clare (Muehler) MacDougall. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Evelyn (MacDougall) Kling.

Jack’s early life was split between Marion, Indiana and Maplewood, New Jersey. It was in Indiana where he discovered his love for basketball. He later graduated from Lafayette College and received an MBA at University of California, Los Angeles. After his time in California Jack and his wife, Hope, settled in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania to raise their family. Jack worked as an accountant at several companies before opening his own travel agency.

Jack was a devoted family man and enjoyed sharing his love of sports with everyone. He was a constant fixture on the sideline throughout his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. For several decades, Jack organized and ran the Upper Merion Township Park and Rec Over 30 Basketball League. He also assisted as a basketball coach at Upper Merion High School. Jack was an encyclopedia of sports statistics and knowledge, especially early professional basketball. He was an avid Eagles fan and was grateful to see them win two Super Bowls.

Jack also loved music. He had a very large record collection consisting of artists from the 1950s and 60s when his father worked at RCA. Jack enjoyed sharing his Johnny Cash and Elvis albums with his family, and more recently, developed quite a playlist on his laptop when he discovered Spotify.

Jack relocated to his daughter’s home in Forest Hill, Maryland after a stroke in 2017. Although his speech and mobility were limited, he was a prolific reader and a regular at the local gym. He thoroughly enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and never missed sending a birthday card.

Jack is survived by his former wife, Hope MacDougall, his devoted daughter Julie (MacDougall) Morgan and loving son John MacDougall; and their spouses, Adam Morgan and Carla (Walker) MacDougall. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Andrew Morgan and wife, Lindsey, Philip Morgan, Allison MacDougall, Mac MacDougall, and Anna MacDougall.

He will be dearly missed and we will treasure our memories of him forever.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
