Ilse Eva Kerr, age 98, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025, in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Germany, Ilse built a full and meaningful life rooted in compassion, service, and love for her family and heritage.
She was the cherished daughter of the late Alexander Jankowski and Margaret Jankowski (nee Willkomm). Ilse was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Joseph Kerr; her sister, Lilo Frauenheim; and her brother-in-law, Walter Frauenheim.
A proud resident of Berlin, Germany in her youth, Ilse carried a lifelong love for the city and all of its cultural aspects. She pursued a long and impactful career as a Cardiac Care Nurse at Franklin Square Hospital, where she was respected for her dedication and nurturing spirit. Outside of her professional life, Ilse was an avid reader, gardener and nature lover, finding joy in the outdoors and the beauty of growing things. She had a deep appreciation for the arts—particularly the opera and all things classical music.
Ilse is survived by her devoted children: Karin Weinberg and her husband Frank, and Christopher Kerr and his wife Connie. She was a loving grandmother to Rachel Weinberg, Elliott Weinberg, Joshua Kerr and his wife Lisa, Samantha Kerr and her companion Brian Pennington, and Melanie Hannah. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Noah Kerr, Abel Kerr, Mason Pennington, Isabelle Pennington, and Aiden Kopishke.
