Henry Edward Hunt

Henry Edward Hunt, 74, of Rising Sun, MD passed away on October 9, 2026. Born in Lumberton, NC he is the devoted son of the late Ruby Jane (Sweat) Hunt and the late Henry Delaware Hunt. A proud member of the Lumbee Tribe, he had a deep love for the outdoors, gardening, and growing beautiful flowers. He found joy in nature and took pride in watching things grow. He shared 24 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Rebecca Childers-Hunt, building a life filled with love and cherished memories.

He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved dog, Toby. His kindness, warmth, and loving spirit touched the lives of so many. He was blessed with many dear friends who loved him dearly, and he will be remembered for the special place he held in their hearts.

Affectionately known by everyone as “Uncle Bun,” he brought love, friendship, and joy to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of the many lives he touched.

In addition to his wife and mother, Henry is survived by his loving children, Shannon Hunt, Angie Hunt, Wendy Hunt, and Diedre Hunt; grandchildren Haley Buisch, Alex Buisch, Ryan Laws, Benjamin Horning, Noah Edward Horning, Allison Horning, Finn Murray and Ian Boyland; and his siblings David Hunt, Loletha (Daniel) Hammonds, and James Rufus (Lorie) Hunt. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his siblings Macy Hunt, Roger Hunt, Francis Hunt, Zelma Anderson, Velma Locklear, Lummie Jacobs, and Annie Hunt.
