Helen Blanch Morena, 93, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
Born in Bakersville, North Carolina, Helen was the beloved daughter of the late Arnold Jacob Gouge and Eva Jane (McKinney) Gouge. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Pat Robert Morena, with whom she shared many cherished years.
Helen was also preceded in death by her siblings: Malone Gouge, Pearl LaQuey, Joyce Bostic, Jean Schaeffer, Edna Pierson, James "Jim" Gouge, Ernest Gouge, and Paul Gouge.
She is survived by her dear sister, Linda Tipton, and her husband Clarence, also survived by many nieces and nephews, and many close friends who will deeply miss her warmth, wit, and unwavering spirit.
Helen retired as a dedicated Network Coordinator from Lockheed Martin, where she served faithfully for 41½ years. She was a proud and active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she worshiped and served the Lord.
Helen had a zest for life and a passion for the arts. She loved oil painting, bird watching, gardening, and was especially fond of plants. A seasoned traveler, she enjoyed going on cruises with her friends and always spoke fondly of her visits to Hawaii. Known for her incredible culinary skills, she was an exceptional cook and baker — known for her famous Jewish Apple Cake were treasured by all who had the pleasure of tasting them.
