Hazel C. Colvin, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Born in the Panama Canal Zone, Hazel was the beloved daughter of Katherine (Weir) Cox, and the late Reuben Guspy Cox Sr. Hazel was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her son and two grandchildren.
Hazel dedicated 35 years of service to the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland where she worked as a Human Resources Assistant before retiring. After her retirement, Hazel dedicated her knowledge of bookkeeping and office management skills to her family business. A woman of deep faith, she was a faithful member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Abingdon, Maryland where she actively participated in the women’s ministry, the United Women of Faith; the Food Delivery Ministry as well as sang on the Women’s Sanctuary Choir.
In her leisure time, Hazel enjoyed spending time on the computer, completing crossword puzzles, and staying connected with family and friends.
Hazel leaves to cherish her memory, a loving son, Darren Colvin and his wife, Kerry; her cherished grandchildren, Malcolm McClurg and Mason Colvin; mother Katherine Cox; one brother, Roy Cox and his wife, Delia; three sisters, Andrea Reid; Leticia Reeder; and Delores Richards; a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. In addition, Hazel was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 56 years, Willie Lewis Colvin; father Reuben G. Cox Sr. and oldest brother Rueben Cox Jr.
Family and friends will remember Hazel for her unwavering faith, strong work ethic, caring spirit, and devotion to her family and church community.
