Harriett Ward Holloway's Obituary

Harriett Ward Holloway, of Darlington, MD passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion to her family and community.

Born on May 3, 1939, in Pocomoke City, Maryland she was the beloved wife of Richard Stump Holloway for 64 years; a devoted mother to Karen Elizabeth Holloway, Richard Stump Holloway, Jr. and his wife Melania, and Jeffrey Ward Holloway and his wife Natalie; and a cherished grandmother to Carson James Holloway and Chase William Holloway. She was also a loving sister to her recently deceased brother, Ronald Dean Ward, and his partner, Nancy. She was preceded in death by her parents Carson Ray Ward and Nadine Walters Ward.

Harriett graduated from Milford High School and went on to earn her degree in Child Development from the University of Delaware in 1961. A proud homemaker, she created a home filled with care, compassion, and unwavering support for her family. She was a dedicated member of Deer Creek Friends Meeting, where her faith and commitment to others were evident in her quiet acts of service and fellowship.

Harriett was deeply committed to her community. She faithfully served for more than 10 years as secretary and treasurer of the Harford County Farm Bureau, where her diligence, organization, and steady leadership were greatly valued. In addition, she gave generously of her time, contributing over 4,000 hours of volunteer service with University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health and volunteering at the Steppingstone Museum reflecting her true spirit of compassion and selflessness.

Her life was a testament to kindness, service, and love. She will be most remembered for her infectious smile, her gentle heart, her unwavering devotion to her family, and the many lives she touched through her passion for teaching and her dedication to helping others.

Harriett’s memory will be cherished always by her family and friends, who will continue to honor her legacy of compassion, generosity, and grace.
