Bel Air

Ginger Musselman Dwyer, age 86, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Roy Musselman and the late Helen (Ritchey) Musselman.

Ginger devoted her life to education, teaching in Baltimore County Public Schools from 1962 until her retirement in 1992. A passionate and dedicated educator, she taught social studies and economics at several schools including Parkville Junior High School, Sudbrook Junior High, Pikesville Senior High School, Perry Hall High School, and ultimately retired from Loch Raven Senior High School. She also coached girls’ basketball at Pikesville High School, sharing her leadership and enthusiasm with generations of students.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in social studies from Houghton College in western New York state. Ginger continued her commitment to lifelong learning by completing an additional 60 credits through coursework at Johns Hopkins University, Syracuse University, and Florida State University.

In 1993, Ginger married the love of her life, Robert Thomas Dwyer—just one day after his retirement. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with companionship, laughter, and a deep love for their five dogs over the years, most of them American Eskimos.

Ginger grew up without siblings and had no children of her own. However, her many first cousins and close friendships were central to her life. When she was at Eastern High School in Baltimore City, Ginger and her mother, Helen, invited Marian Edamura to come live with them. Marian was also a student at EHS. The three of them became so close that Marian to this day affectionately refers to Ginger as “sister” and Helen as “mom.” Ginger also cherished her many years of friendship with her best friends, Beverly Hiske and Shirley Crockett. She treasured these bonds deeply and carried them close to her heart.

She lived a vibrant and multifaceted life. At one point, Ginger worked nights as a radio disc jockey for a Baltimore Christian radio station, a role that brought her opportunities to meet and interview many Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Colts. She and Robert were also proud Baltimore Ravens season ticket holders, cheering on their team for many years. She loved attending an Orioles or Colts game. Ginger was also an enthusiastic Maryland Terrapins fan. Outside of sports, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and caring for flowers. Ginger was a talented and resourceful handywoman, even installing her own chair rail in her home. Though she grew up with humble beginnings, Ginger used them as a source of strength and pride throughout her life.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Dwyer.

Ginger will be remembered for her kindness, her many talents, her dedication to education, and the deep love she shared with her family and friends. Her warmth, generosity, and spirited personality will be deeply missed.

Contributions can be made to the Harford County Humane Society.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11am at Fallston United Methodist Church, 1509 Fallston Road, Fallston, MD 21047.
