Gilbert Harris

Gilbert Harris, age 84, of Joppa, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Alvin and Grace (Blake) Harris.

Gilbert was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Carol (Mitchell) Harris, with whom he shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving home centered around family, laughter, and faith.

He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who honorably served his country. Following his service, Gilbert worked as an MTA Transit Bus Driver in Baltimore City for many years, retiring in 2004. Known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and warm sense of humor, Gilbert was admired and respected by all who knew him.

In his free time, Gilbert loved fishing—especially for spot fish. He was always the first to board the boat to claim his “lucky spot.” He also took great pride in maintaining his lawn, meticulously manicuring it to perfection. Above all, Gilbert’s heart belonged to his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather whose focus was always on those he loved most.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Harris, Jr.

He is survived by son, Anthony Tyronne Harris, and daughter in law Tabitha Jo Harris; and his cherished grandchildren, Antonia Hailee Harris (ToneTone), Tia Alyse Harris, and Taylor Nicole Harris.
