Geraldine C. Pytash, lovingly known as Gerry, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Gerry was the cherished daughter of Charles and Helen Strizak. She was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, friend, and a caring presence in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Gerry will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she shared so freely with others throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helen Strizak; her sister, Mary Brown; and her brother, Charles Strizak.
Gerry is survived by her loving sisters, Helen Strizak and Anne Strizak; her daughters, Leigh Ann Waggoner and Kristen Pytash Roll; her beloved grandson, Timothy Roll; and her sons-in-law, Gary Waggoner and David Roll.
Throughout her life, Gerry pursued several careers, but she often expressed that her true purpose on this earth was being a mother. It was a role she embraced wholeheartedly and with extraordinary devotion. She possessed a rare gift for accepting people exactly as she found them, offering unconditional love, encouragement, and understanding without judgment. Her home, her heart, and her arms were always open to those in need of comfort or belonging.
Gerry taught many people how to love through her example. She demonstrated that compassion, patience, and acceptance are among life's greatest gifts. Her family believes that this ability to love others so completely was her truest legacy, one that will continue to live on in all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
"To love and be loved" was not simply something Gerry believed in; it was the way she lived her life every day.
