Georgios "George" Kanellopulos, age 66, of Edgewood, Maryland, passed away on August 25, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Derveni, Corinth, Greece, George was the beloved son of the late Theodosios and Angeliki Kanellopulos. He was the devoted husband of 38 years to Sharon (Carver) Kanellopulos.
George had a long and diverse career, working for Manolis Painting Company for 10 years before retiring in January 2021. Prior to that, he spent time in the Philippines as an instructor for anti-terrorism training, serving as a contractor for the Department of State. From 1987 to 2010, he was a dedicated employee of Reglas Painting Company. George also proudly served two years in the Greek Navy.
Known for his love of family, George cherished time spent with his loved ones, especially around food. His deep connection to both Greek and American cultures was evident in his passions. He embraced American traditions, becoming an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, while still keeping his love for soccer alive, always rooting for his favorite team, Olympiakos.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, George is survived by his sons, Stavros (Amy) and Nickolaos; his daughters, Angeliki and Theodosia (William); his sisters, Diamanto and Konstantina; and his cherished grandchildren, George, Mackenzie, Mason, Camille, and Eloise.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741, in honor of George’s memory.
