It is with deep sadness and with profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of George W. Seward Jr. on August 12, 2026. George was born on February 1, 1944, in Smith Creek Township of Warren County North Carolina. He was the only child of George Sr. and Beatrice Seward and was the joy of their lives.

George was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Eloise Johnson, on April 1, 1964. Together, they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage, raising two children and building a life filled with love and laughter. Their enduring partnership was an inspiration to all who knew them.

George graduated from Baltimore City College in 1962. Later he attended Harford Community College where he acquired certificates in networking, computer programming and database management. He worked for Western Electric Co. until they closed. He then worked 20 years at Baltimore Gas and Electric as a meter reader and Computer Operator. His knowledge, skill, dedication and hard work were hallmarks of his professional life.

George was a hard worker determined to always give his best. He loved telling stories about his long and interesting work life like his first Job at age nine, peeling potatoes at a local restaurant. He laughed about being paid with French fries.

Throughout his life, George was committed to his faith. He and Eloise dedicated their lives to Jehovah God, being baptized together in March 1973. George served Jehovah faithfully for over 53 years. He considered each assignment and responsibility a privilege and a testament to his unwavering devotion and love for Gods Word.

He was known for his loyalty, generosity, and readiness to help those in need, qualities that endeared him to many. George found much joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time with his wife, affectionately calling her "Ralph," and enjoyed watching movies and westerns. Dining out with friends brought him great happiness, and he was always the life of the gathering, spreading warmth, cheer and laughter. He also loved music, Jazz, blues, and Motown. There was a time when he loved football, that is until the Baltimore Colts left Baltimore. He never got over it, and never forgave them.

It is impossible to contain such a wonderful man’s life in an obituary. George’s legacy of love kindness, humor and generosity will always be remembered by his family, friends and everyone who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and friendship.

George is survived by his beloved wife Eloise, his son George C. Seward, his daughter Aminta Jackson and son-in-law Troy Jackson, along with his cousins Walter “Dee” Russell, Troy Russell, Denise Gause, Vandely Davis, and the Bronsons who were very dear to him.

George Seward was a man of integrity and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.
