GEORGE EDWARD HUTH, SR. September 12, 1937 – December 14, 2025

George Edward Huth, Sr. of Edgewood, was born September 12, 1937, in The City Hospital, Baltimore City, Maryland. George was the son of the late Edward Frank Huth and Ruth Sadie (Hall) Huth. George was the loving husband of over 59 years to Anna F. Huth (nee Inscore).

George grew up in Highlandtown, Baltimore City, and attended Catholic schools. When he was about 9 years old, he would walk from their Rustic Avenue home in Rosedale to the Schaffer Farm on Chesaco Avenue in Baltimore County on weekends and summer vacation from school to pick spinach and other vegetables. He saved his money to buy himself a white suit and shoes for his first communion. He left school when he was in the 8th grade to help support his family and himself. When he was about 15 his neighbor gave him a job in the construction business. He helped dig ditches, pour foundations and did everything he was asked to do. During this time, he saved his money to buy himself a car, a Ford, which he paid $100. When he turned 18, he applied for a job at Western Electric Company in Baltimore City, he was hired, and he worked in the cable department most of his entire time there. At the age of 25, he was drafted into the United States Army to serve his country, and he proudly served his two years in a “Field Artillery Unit” in Germany from 1963-1965. When he was Honorably Discharged from the Army he returned to his job with Western Electric, later known as AT&T and retired with 30 years in 1986 because of the plant closing in Baltimore City. After his retirement from AT&T he went to work at AAI Corporation, Timonium, Baltimore County for 6 years and retired.

George was an amazing mechanic. He did all his repairs on his cars, mostly because he could not afford to take the car to a shop, he taught himself, making mistakes along the way, but he would eventually figure it out. He was very particular about his automobiles as well, they were always spotless, inside and out. When George was a young man in his early teens, he loved to ride horses and jump fences with them. Some of his fondest memories as a young boy were going to the movies on a Saturday night with his Grandmother Bessie Hall, at The Grand Theater in Highlandtown. She worked at Pompeian Olive Oil Company, he would meet her there and they would go buy groceries and would take them into the theater with them and watch his favorite movies…Westerns. He saw many famous cowboy stars in person when they came to entertain them at the theater. He and his grandmother would then take a bus back to Chesaco Avenue and he would spend the night with her. George also loved trains. He was in glory when a train rode by. He loved to go to train Museums, especially the ones that would have train rides, and would never miss going to “Christmas Train Garden’s” at Christmastime. For many years, George and Ann had a tradition of going to “Sky Line Drive” every October to see the beautiful leaves, and he was fascinated by the beauty of the mountains. He loved that Ann shared all this with him since he was born and raised in the city most of his young life and Ann grew in the rural mountains of Southwestern VA. Also, his other favorite places were going to Dollywood and The Biltmore Estate in North Carolina. George was also an avid NASCAR fan.

George is survived by his daughter, Denise L. Keller, (husband Chester); sons, George E. Huth, Jr., (wife Pam); Gary G. Huth, (wife Carla); Helen “Susie” Huth, Catherine Watchorn, (husband Grant), Dorothy Smith, (husband Paul); grandchildren, Jennifer and Chelsea Keller, Sarah and Jackie Huth, Alexander and Andrew Huth; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; Sandra Sann, Brenda Korwin, (husband John); brother-in-law, G. Michael Inscore. Also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. George was predeceased by his sister Dolores A. Simpson.
