Genevieve Ruth Hutson

Genevieve Ruth Hutson, age 88, of Joppa, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Born in Kingsville, Maryland, Genevieve was the daughter of the late Harrison E. Gross, and Elizabeth S. (Anderson) Gross.

In addition to her parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Edward Hutson; her son, James Hutson and 5 siblings.

She is survived by her loving children: Lisa A. (Edward) Dickson, Patricia R. (John) Copenhaver, Mark (Alison) Hutson, and Carol (Bruce) McClellan as well as her 10 cherished grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Genevieve was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Joppa, where her faith and community were an important part of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter, and her family always remained at the center of her heart.

A very talented artist, Genevieve found great joy in creative expression. She loved painting portraits, creating realistic drawings, hand-crafting porcelain dolls, and delicately hand-painting eggs with intricate decorative scenes hidden inside—each piece a reflection of her patience, skill, and imagination.

She will be remembered for her artistic talent, her love of family, and the warmth she shared with all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Trinity Lutheran Church.

A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday 1/24/2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church between 1:00-3:00
